World No. 289 Paul Jubb beat No. 14 Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals in Mallorca - 6:3, 3:6, 7:6 (8).
Jubb missed three match points to lead 6-5 in the deciding set, and three more in the tiebreaker. He then saved Shelton`s match point, trailing 7 to 8.
Before Jabba`s win over Shelton, the highest-ranked opponent the Brit had beaten was No. 60 Alex Mickelsen. They met in early June on the Challenger at Surbiton.
Until this week, Jabba had no wins at the ATP level. He previously lost two matches at ATP tournaments predicted by dropping odds movement and two at Wimbledon.
In the live rankings, 24-year-old Jubb is now 201st. He is the champion of one Challenger and eight ITF tournaments.
