Horner explained how Andretti got into F1.
The Red Bull boss believes that the only way for Andretti to become involved in F1 is to buy one of the current teams. Moreover, the Briton is surprised that Michael Andretti appealed to the US Congress due to the rejection of F1`s application.


Earlier, the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee launched an investigation into Formula 1`s decision.


Our owners [Liberty Media] are from the USA. Our car features the logos of five Fortune 500 companies (a list of the 500 largest US companies by revenue compiled by Fortune Sports magazine). I think it`s not that Andretti is an American. It`s purely about the Formula 1 business model.


I remember not so long ago there were always two teams at the back of the peloton that needed help and were insolvent. We were finally able to create conditions under which a healthy atmosphere was established in Formula 1. Liberty should be congratulated on this because they have created a model where even the worst F1 team is valued at a billion dollars. This model was created by Liberty.


I think they should be commended for that - for the approach they brought to making the sport more inclusive and bringing in a new fan base, new fans.


I`m surprised Andretti would do this. I hope that if they really want to find a way to get into the peloton, they will find it. In my opinion, the most natural solution for them is to acquire an existing franchise if someone decides to sell it.


I think Andretti has a strong racing legacy. Mario [Andretti, 1978 F1 champion] is a legend of the sport, and, of course, Cadillac is a major automaker from the United States. I think Formula 1 said that they would consider their application again in 2028 if they came with their own engine.


If Andretti wants to become a part of the championship, then the best way is to acquire one of the existing teams, as was the case when Audi bought Sauber. This way we will protect the current stability, says Horner.
