Verstappen called Norris`s speed in the USA insane.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen reported his impressions of the pace of the Miami Grand Prix winner, Lando Norris from McLaren.


At the beginning I didn`t see him much because I was more focused on Oscar [Piastri] behind and the Ferrari cars. But then I pulled into the pits and heard how fast he was on the used medium tyres. And I thought: Well, he`s pretty crazy. I definitely wouldn`t be able to show that.


So I knew that even without the safety car I would have to attack quite hard to contain him. And then a safety car appeared on the track. Well, that`s racing. Sometimes circumstances work for you, sometimes against you.


Even with the safety car, we still had a chance to win, but we certainly weren`t fast enough. When I realized this, I just tried to finish second.


[Red Bull`s speed] was pretty bad in the race, I`d say. Also, I didn`t feel really comfortable as the weekend went on. I think on medium the pace was more or less normal, but on hard it was a disaster - low grip, very difficult balance at low speeds. I couldn`t really lean into the rear end and experienced severe understeer at high speeds. You can`t balance these things, it`s like chasing two different goals, " said the three-time Formula 1 champion.
